We had a wonderful stay at a hotel on the beach, with a short bus trip to town. the location was perfect, with many taverns and small shops just outside the hotel. Our bungalow had a separate pool which was a nice bonus. the gym was fully equipped, a rare find in most hotels. There were plenty of seats both on the beach and by the pool.
The breakfast finishing at 10.00 didn't leave much time for a leisurely meal in the morning.

Can't fault the hotel.

The gym was well-equipped and much better than most hotel gyms I've seen. The separate pool in the bungalow we stayed in was a lovely addition, and there were always plenty of seats available both by the pool and on the beach. the location was convenient as it was just a short bus ride into town, and there were plenty of taverns and small shops just outside the hotel.
The gym didn't open until 9 am, and breakfast ended at 10 am, so there wasn't enough time in the morning to fit in a workout before breakfast.

We had stayed at Candia Maris on previous trip to Crete in 2004. Facilities were wonderful as was the staff. Still a good resort hotel but things had changed somewhat.
Candia Maris is now an "all-inclusive" resort. Not knowing this we chose the typical European breakfast with lodging plan, which is always sufficient for us. Unfortunately we found out the hard way.....we went to have dinner in the previously very good main restaurant and found that dinner was a very expensive ( 29 euros each) which was mediocre at best. Very disappointing given the restaurant's quality on our previous stay at Candia Maris in 2004.

A very calm hotel with a big territory, bungalow is very nicely situated separately from the main building, warm sea in August + 26c, clean rooms, new (or looiking like new:) furniture and everything in the shower room, free wi-fi in the lobby, very welocoming staff at the breakfast restaurant
The staff forgot to give me a wake-up call in the morning of departure, becauset they forgot to make a note about it, not safe entrance to the sea, you need to use special shoes, the 1st day was injured my foor with an echinus sitting on the stone and the stones are also sharp, not always enough beach towels available

The location was great, just a short bus trip into town. There were plenty of taverns and small shops right outside the hotel, making it convenient to explore. The gym was fully equipped and much better than most hotel gyms I've seen. I stayed in a bungalow that had its own separate pool. It was a nice touch and provided a private and relaxing experience. there were always plenty of seats available both at the pool and on the beach, ensuring comfortable and enjoyable sunbathing.
Nothing to mention.

The Candia Maris has nice swimming pools, nice clean rooms.
No wifi internet in the rooms. The beach in front of the hotel is not very nice.

We recently stayed at a luxurious 5-star hotel, and were impressed by the exclusive amenities provided. the service was exceptional, and the swimming pool and private facilities were a highlight. the location was great, with plenty of small shops and taverns nearby. the bar and lounge area was perfect for evening drinks.
The only minor issue was the gym not opening until 9am, which meant no morning workout before breakfast at 10am. the fully-equipped gym was worth the wait.

Standards have dropped since it changed hands from the Movenpick...........The Spa is extortionate in its pricing .
